How it works

Set up at the dock.
Read weather offshore.

Beamback delivers GRIB forecasts over your Garmin inReach or ZOLEO as ordinary satellite texts. Set it up at the dock once. After that, every forecast is three steps.

Setup ~5 min, once Each forecast 1 text out, ~2 min back Extra hardware none
Set up once

At the dock, with WiFi

Three steps you never repeat. Do them before you leave — the pairing round-trip confirms everything works while you can still fix it.

STEP 1

Get access

Beamback is in invite-only beta. Got a beta code? Redeem it at beamback.io/redeem — email in, sign-in link back, no password, no card. No code yet? Request beta access and we’ll invite you as spots open.

STEP 2

Pair your messenger

One message from the device proves it’s yours. Nothing is installed on it and nothing changes about how it works.

ZOLEO Enter your device’s @zoleo.com address. We text it a code — reply CONFIRM plus the code and you’re paired.
GARMIN INREACH We show you your code. From the Garmin app, send PAIR plus that code to the Beamback email address on screen — the welcome reply confirms the round trip.

STEP 3

Get the app

Free, and it works fully offline.

Every forecast

Offshore, radio off

The loop you’ll run on passage. The app works fully offline — the only thing that touches the satellite is the text messages.

STEP 4

Draw a box, get a request

In the Beamback app, tap two corners around your route. Pick wind, pressure, rain or waves, the model and how far ahead. The app shows the satellite-message count before anything is sent, then hands you a short request text like

GFS:49N,43N,08W,03W|1,1|24|WIND

You don’t type any of that — the app builds it, ready to send.

STEP 5

Text it from your messenger

Send that request from your inReach or ZOLEO the way you’d send any message. The forecast comes back in the same thread as a few texts of coded data. On a real inReach in July 2026: under two minutes.

GFS:49N,43N,08W,03W|1,1|24|WIND

CD2Rh4nJ5aWQiOiJiZWFt…
real run: under 2 min
STEP 6

Paste it back, read the weather

Copy the replies into the app and the chart draws itself. Scrub it hour by hour, tap any point for the numbers. The basemap lives inside the app, so all of this works with the radio off.

The only kit is the messenger you own

The app runs on iOS, Android and in the browser. Satellite airtime stays on your own plan, billed by your provider — the app always shows the message count first.
