Who runs this

Beamback is built and operated by Matej Képeš, a software engineer based in Slovakia. It is a one-person operation: the same person who writes the code answers the support email. You can reach me at [email protected].

Why Beamback exists

Offshore, the weather is the whole game — and the moment you lose phone signal, most weather tools go dark. Satellite messengers like the ZOLEO are brilliant, affordable links to the world, but out of the box they can't fetch a GRIB forecast or answer a question.

Beamback closes that gap: you text a request from your ZOLEO, and a real GRIB weather forecast (GFS or ECMWF) or an AI answer comes back over the same satellite link — no phone signal, no extra hardware. It exists because sailors and other off-grid travellers deserve the same forecast data the professionals use, on the device they already carry.

Independence

Beamback is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to ZOLEO Inc. or Garmin. ZOLEO satellite airtime is billed by ZOLEO, separately, like any other message you send. Beamback is also unrelated to the UK video company of the same name.
